Bernie’s, Noe Valley
Stopped by this lovely neighborhood coffee shop last Thursday when I was in the neighborhood for a haircut. I...needed...coffee after a long day of work training. Anyway, I wasn’t sure what to expect but Bernie’s is pretty good...
I ordered a pumpkin spice latte with almond milk and was pleasantly surprised. After having a Starbucks PSL last month, I was grossed out because of how artificial it tasted. And when I walked into Bernie’s, I saw generic coffee syrups so I figured I would try a PSL because it’s pumpkin season! And if I was gonna with generic (not homemade) syrup, it light as well be a good one.
They our my top on for me, which I normally don’t like for hygienic reasons, but I was in need of coffee so it was fine. I couldn’t tell if they did any latte art so if you really really need that, tell them you’ll put your coffee cup lid on yourself. Anyway, moving forward, I grabbed and left and wow...one sip and I was really pleased.
It felt like Autumn with each sip...and I didn’t taste artificial pumpkin; it tasted legit. The coffee shop twelfth has enough space to work and with 4.5 stars on Yelp, it must be a neighborhood hot spot. There were also a couple of girls singing with a guitar outside which I thought was really cute and reminded me of Autumn nights in Chicago with cooler weather, street performers, and saxophones...
Would I return?? Heck yeah! I really LOVE this neighborhood so I’ll definitely be back.
Rating: 4/5 for a pretty darn good PSL
