Contraband! Contraband! Contraband...clearly, I am talking about the coffee shop...
How can you NOT try a coffee shop called Contraband?! My thoughts exactly...
So I was hesitant to try this place, especially because it is soooo close to Saint Frank. It truly took effort to make myself NOT walk to my favorite coffee shop but alas, I was not disappointed...at least I wasn't disappointed by the coffee.
Let's start with the positive:
They have great almond milk, free wifi, and this delicious concoction called the rosemary sage latte. One word: WOW! So creamy and not overly sweet. It paired nicely with the almond milk as well. Really enjoyed it. It may be one of y new favorite beverages.
Now for the not-so-great info:
Yelp reviewers commented on the baristas being rude but I had to see for myself; sadly, the Yelp reviewers were correct. The barista didn't acknowledge my presence until I came directly in front of the cash register (I honestly didn't know where the hell to order and where I should pay so I was awkwardly standing there till I figured it out). Anyway, he took my order and then asked "Is that it?" His tone was kinda annoyed. Hello! I ordered a rosemary sage latte with almond milk and my total was already $6. That's plenty to order, as opposed to the guy after me who just got a coffee but wasn't treated like s***. Jeeez...then when my order was ready, the barista guy didn't even announce it. He just made the drink, put the mug on the counter, and went about his business. When I asked him if it was mine, he rudely replied "Yes" but gave me a "are you serious?" look. WTH...
Would definitely come back for a latte to-go (but only if Saint Frank closes early for their monthly meetings). Otherwise, paying $6 to be treated like an idiot doesn't seem worth it to me. I don't care how great your lattes are.
Final Tally: 3/5 come for the coffee but leave cuz the barista (especially if it's this guy) is rude.
Delicious rosemary sage almond milk latte . Sexy mug... :)
Coo' gritty outside...blends into the street
